11. Taste Some Cool Climate Wines

The Southern Highlands is a recognised cool climate wine region with Berrima at its hub. The first plantings were at Joadja in 1983, and there are now ten wineries within 15 minutes drive from Berrima village. Eight of the ten have cellar doors.

Take a long, deep breath of the clean, crisp air and gaze across endless rolling green hills, then look forward to a romantic night ahead, in front of a roaring log fire, sipping your favourite cool climate red and wondering why you did not escape to the Highlands sooner.

Centennial Vineyards is located just minutes from the historic township of Bowral in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, just over an hour south of Sydney. This premium cool climate vineyard at over 700m in altitude (in winter snow is possible) ensures grapes ripen slowly with enhanced flavour and intensity.

Slow ripening together with fastidious attention to viticulture and low cropping levels, results in premium quality fruit, creating wines of elegance and distinction. Their wine has been acknowledged at wine shows, internationally and nationally, with over 1,000 medals won from trophy to bronze. The vines planted over 80 acres include Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Albarino, Pinot Noir and Tempranillo. With up to 35 wines on tasting in cellar door you are sure to make many exciting discoveries.
