I found Berrima through an internet search as a quick ‘in and out’ off the Hume Motorway for our journey north and then discovered the ‘Bakehouse Motel’; my Sister and I were pleasantly surprised and enjoyed our brief stays. The staff welcomed us warmly and efficiently on first arrival. Upon return, the telephone inquiry and subsequent booking for arrival after office hours is also to be commended; the process was smooth with sufficient reassuring communication for two elderly ladies.
The recently updated facilities exceeded our expectations and I am surprised that the internet only gives the Motel a three (3) Star rating; I believe it should be four (4).
Our only disappointment was that we did not have more time to explore the beautiful village of Berrima and all that it has to offer. The Surveyor General Inn fed and watered us magnificently both nights (up and back), staff were kind and courteous and would you believe at 70 and 80 years of age, we were the last patrons to leave at 9pm last Wednesday, my we laughed, it’s been a long time since we were the last ones to leave a pub!
A compliment also to the Magpie Café, breakfast was a delight with good old fashioned service, slow, but nice and to those who say it is too expensive, well they mustn’t eat out much or perhaps just stay on the highway and eat ‘Service Centre’ food. The food was deliciously prepared and served with great local conversation which sent us on our way with no need for lunch!
Thank you Berrima, we’ll be back with more time to explore, though not in winter…..

“We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Bakehouse Motel, even though only for a short visit. (Wedding) The room was modern and clean and had everything required for a short stay. Like the fact you could have got some cereal from the kitchen if you didn’t want to go up town. Really love the book you have put together, so much detail and local information even I did not realise, and only live an hour away. Well done. You have really put a lot of thought into making your guests welcome and well informed about the area.

I have been visiting The Bakehouse for over 20 years and its well placed within Berrima, for walking around the village and the river, and of course strolling around the lovely shops. Their latest renovations have made for a lovely, bright, airy and clean rooms, especially the terrace rooms that look over the garden and forest. There are garden seats placed within the gardens, if you want to have a stroll with the ducks, or a quiet coffee under a tree. The addition of an amenities room with microwave, plates and cutlery is a really handy addition, as a lot of the cafes and restaurants are only open between Thursday and Sunday. The cosy Surveyor General Inn (pub) across the road is always open for dinner, and is a short 2 minute walk. The beautiful, landmark Magpie Cafe, right next door to the Pub, is open everyday for breakfast and lunch. There is lots of useful information about Berrima and surrounds in your room. This is a really lovely motel.

“My partner and I stayed for the night of 15 February 2023 and found accommodation at
Berrima Bakehouse Motel clean and comfortable, with the attention to detail indicating a
welcoming landlord, plus the location in the middle of everything Berrima has to offer
(not to mention being opposite the pub) makes for a complete package. Check in and out
is so convenient too.
Whatsmore, I had the best sleep I have experienced for ages, so that’s praise indeed.

“My friend and I were really pleased with the hospitality and the standard of the Bakehouse Motel this time around. Some years back we didnt find the welcome so friendly but this time we were really impressed with the genuine warm welcome we received and attention given.
The grounds look very well maintained, the garden looking very nice and the rooms matched.
We will be back and have recommended the Motel to our friends.
